Bridges

Bridges everywhere!  And Kathy seemed to want to take pictures of all of them.  (This is just a small sample.)  The main waterway, the Grand Canal, snakes its way, cutting an S-shaped divide between the major sections of Venice.  Smaller canals crisscross everywhere, making many of the walkways lead to dead ends (often at people's doors), and requiring many foot bridges to cross over in other places...

A self-taken (timer) picture of Kathy and me at the bridge nearest the train station.

Kathy sitting at an interesting bridge crossing at the corner of a walkway (similar to the one at the right).

A gondola going under the Rialto Bridge.

Who knows where.  Kathy wanted to take a picture of nearly every bridge.  ("Oooh, a bridge; let's get a picture of us!")  ;-)  This is a nice one of us though, isn't it?

Ditto.

Ditto (except just me).

This is the Rialto Bridge -- by far the most famous and most popular bridge in Venice -- crossing over the Grand Canal.  It seemed to be at the center of a lot of restaurants, gondola rides and shops.

This was an interesting little "corner" bridge over one of the zillions of smaller canals that cut their way through all of Venice.  Yes, that appears to be graffiti in the background, but really, Venice was very pretty and quaint -- and very safe to walk at night.

This was a triple bonus for Kathy -- a picture of a bridge, a picture of a gondola (both of which she was obsessed with :-) and a good picture of us together.

I have no idea.  What can I say.  Bridges.  Taken from one; two in the distance.  This gives you a good idea of what a typical "street" in Venice looks like: a narrow canal.
