Boboli Gardens

As I started to mention on the page leading to this one, the Boboli Gardens are huge tiered gardens located on the opposite side of the river from the main area of Florence.  You enter the gardens through what used to be a palace...so yes, these are the palace's gardens.  It's a long climb up to the top, but the view of the city from there was tremendous.  At each of the levels of the tiers, you could go left or right (symmetrical) and wander into the hedged areas.

A little further up.

Doesn't it look like the statue is waving to Kathy, "Come on up."?

This dead tree is pretty cool.  Kathy noticed it.  If you look at it right you can see people "in" the branches.

What the heck is this?  I really don't know, but it was funny.  Note Kathy to the right.  We saw postcards that had David on one side, this statue on the other side, and said, "Before & After."  I suppose they meant before and after eating all that wonderful Italian pasta.

Kathy and me about half-way up the garden, with the city in the background.

This fountain is at the top of the gardens.  Isn't this little boy cute sitting there?

We really didn't know what this was.  It is very interesting the way it looks like the sculptures are growing on it.  Later, we saw something similar on a bridge on our way up to Michelangelo's memorial.

Kathy begging for something...and he is obviously saying "no".
