Roaring 20's Benefit / Halloween Party

Next Exit, an inner-city youth program, held a Halloween party / benefit that had a "Roaring 20's" theme.  It was held at a nearby hotel and had a great live band.  You had to be in 20's dress to enter the party.  There were casino-like games and a mafia family theme early on, and then that all stopped when the band started playing...

I went with my three closest friends.  From left-to-right, Jennifer, Kathy, (me), and Deb -- all gorgous flappers...

Deb and I before we left Kathy's apartment...

Here's a couple close-ups of Kathy.  I couldn't decide which one I like better, so you pick...

A close-up of Jennifer...

And of course, a close up of Deb, too...

Kathy and I doing a little swing dancing.  I think I was already pretty sweaty by this point, so no comments, please ;-)...

And at the end of the song, a dip of course.  I love this picture...

Me spinning Deb...possibly a little more than she expected...

Deb dancing with some guy.  Look at their expressions.  Hillarious...

Another friend, Catherine, and Deb again...

Catherine, Jennifer and Deb dancing a little with themselves...

Jennifer and I doing a little swing...

Jennifer and I doing a little bit of Charleston in tandem (me behind her).  Please excuse the leg...

There was also a Charleston contest, though these pictures weren't taken during it...
I had been out in the lobby, cooling off with Kathy, and we walked back in just at the beginning of the contest.  Jennifer and I tried pushing our way through the crowd to get to the dance floor, but unfortunately, by the time we got up there the judge (an instructor from a local  dance studio) had allready eliminated some couples.  We still went out there and danced.  We, in a matter of speaking, took second place, although there was officially only one winning couple.  Afterward, several people (at least 7 or 8) told us that we should have won!  A couple of days later when we were out dancing, the judge (who happened to be there too) let us know that the only reason we didn't win is that we got a late start, but otherwise he would have given us 1st place!  Yeah, I'm patting Jennifer and myself on the back, but I think it's pretty darn cool for a couple of people that have never had a real dance lesson!
Okay, enough of the ego trip.  Back to the pictures...

This is Jennifer and a friend, Alan, dipping her...

Jennifer and Kathy..."TAKE 1"...with a borrowed prop...

Jennifer was teaching Kathy one of the kicks Jennifer and I frequently do.  I need to start incorporating the stuff I've been doing with Jennifer into what Kathy and I do now that Kathy is able to come out dancing again...

Another couple of similar pictures that I couldd't decide between, so you decide which is better:
Kathy, me and Jennifer...

"Bad Girls" (gangster style) Jennifer and Kathy.  Another great picture...

And "sexy girls" Jennifer and Kathy.  Yeah baby! ;-)
